🎯Indications▾

Bacterial conjunctivitis and superficial ocular infections, including use in trachoma programmes where appropriate.

💧Administration▾

Topical instillation into the conjunctival sac; avoid touching the eye with the tip. Keep the container closed and discard 4 weeks after opening.

⚖️Dosage▾

1 drop every 2 hours for the first 2 days, then 4-hourly while awake; ointment 1% applied 3–4 times daily. Treatment is normally limited to 5–7 days.

⚠️Precautions & Warnings▾

Do not use systemically for minor infection; prolonged topical use may cause marrow suppression in rare cases (avoid in patients with a history of blood dyscrasia). Stop if no improvement after 48–72 hours.
