🎯Indications▾

Prevention and treatment of micronutrient deficiencies, and WHO-recommended supplementation programmes (e.g. vitamin A, iron and folic acid, zinc in childhood diarrhoea, multiple micronutrient powders for infants).

💧Administration▾

Oral, preferably with meals to improve absorption and reduce gastric irritation. Iron preparations are best absorbed on an empty stomach but may be given with food if tolerated.

⚖️Dosage▾

Follow the specific product/label and national supplementation schedule. Typical WHO-recommended examples: zinc 20 mg daily for 10–14 days in childhood diarrhoea; ferrous salt with folic acid daily during pregnancy; folic acid 400 mcg daily for women of childbearing age.

⚠️Precautions & Warnings▾

Avoid exceeding stated upper limits — fat-soluble vitamins and iron can accumulate. Iron poisoning is dangerous in children — keep out of reach. Some supplements can interfere with antibiotics, levothyroxine and antacids (separate by 2–4 hours).
