🎯Indications▾

Pain and inflammation: dysmenorrhoea, musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, dental and post-operative pain (NSAID class after paracetamol on the WHO analgesic ladder).

💧Administration▾

Oral tablets/capsules with or after food; piroxicam and other long-acting NSAIDs are usually given once or twice daily.

⚖️Dosage▾

Mefenamic acid 500 mg three times daily with food (dysmenorrhoea 500 mg three times daily as needed). Piroxicam 10–20 mg once daily. Use the lowest effective dose; short-course treatment is preferred in the elderly.

⚠️Precautions & Warnings▾

Class risks: GI bleeding/perforation, renal impairment, fluid retention and thrombotic events. Avoid in active ulcer, severe renal or hepatic impairment, heart failure, late pregnancy; avoid combining with other NSAIDs, corticosteroids or anticoagulants.
