🎯Indications▾

Peptic ulcer disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, NSAID-associated ulcer prophylaxis, and part of H. pylori eradication regimens.

💧Administration▾

Proton-pump inhibitors: oral, swallow intact 30–60 minutes before a meal (before breakfast). H2 blockers may be taken at bedtime.

⚖️Dosage▾

Omeprazole adults 20–40 mg once daily (ulcer healing 20 mg daily for 4–8 weeks; reflux 20 mg daily). H2 blocker e.g. ranitidine 150 mg twice daily or 300 mg at night.

⚠️Precautions & Warnings▾

Long-term use: monitor vitamin B12, magnesium and bone density; may mask gastric malignancy. Reduce dose in severe hepatic impairment; review the need for continued therapy periodically.
