Iopamidol Injection

Intravascular iodinated contrast agent for radiographic/CT imaging, angiography and urography; used only for diagnostic imaging.

Intravenous or intra-arterial injection by trained radiology staff, at the concentration and volume appropriate to the study and body weight.

Typically 50–150 ml of the appropriate concentration per examination, determined by the radiologist; adjust for renal function, cardiac status and paediatric indications.

Risk of contrast-induced nephropathy — ensure hydration, check renal function and eGFR beforehand, and withhold nephrotoxic drugs where possible. Avoid in untreated hyperthyroidism and previous severe contrast reaction; facilities for treating anaphylactoid reaction must be available.
