🎯Indications▾

Adjunct in oxidative stress-related conditions, hepatic support and detoxification protocols; acetylcysteine is the WHO-listed antidote for paracetamol poisoning and mucolytic in respiratory disease.

💧Administration▾

Oral tablets/sachets, or intravenous infusion for acute poisoning and severe indications.

⚖️Dosage▾

Acetylcysteine (paracetamol poisoning): 150 mg/kg IV over 1 hour, then 50 mg/kg over 4 hours, then 100 mg/kg over 16 hours — as per protocol. Oral mucolytic 200 mg 2–3 times daily. Glutathione supplements usually 600–1200 mg daily per label.

⚠️Precautions & Warnings▾

Intravenous acetylcysteine may cause anaphylactoid reactions — monitor during infusion. Supplement use should not replace evidence-based therapy; consult a clinician for hepatic disease.
