🎯Indications▾

WHO first-line for pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections, otitis media, urinary tract infection, dental infections and susceptible skin infections.

💧Administration▾

Oral (capsules, tablets, suspensions, dispersible tablets). May be given with or without food; shake suspensions well.

⚖️Dosage▾

Adults 250–500 mg every 8 h, or 500 mg–1 g every 12 h (high dose). Children 20–40 mg/kg/day in 2–3 divided doses; severe infections up to 45 mg/kg/day. Complete the full course prescribed.

⚠️Precautions & Warnings▾

Contraindicated in penicillin allergy — anaphylaxis risk. Adjust dose in severe renal impairment. Common adverse effects: diarrhoea, nausea, rash. Stop and seek medical advice if widespread rash or breathing difficulty occurs.
